No Risk looks back on a successful edition of Future of Festivals in Berlin.
We visited the world’s largest trade fair for event professionals in Germany, for the first time with our very own stand. It was a deliberate choice, explains Brent Zaal: “In the Netherlands we might be a market leader, but internationally many organisers still don’t really know us. This fair was the perfect opportunity to make new connections and reinforce our ambitions.”
Visibility and valuable encounters
We thought it important to have a strong presence at this fair for international partners and organisers, and we certainly achieved that. Brent: “We spoke with familiar names as well as parties we hadn’t met before. To our surprise, we found that what we offer was completely new to some organisers abroad. They were literally searching for a solution they had been unable to find anywhere else. Naturally, that was a fantastic discovery for us.”
Event insurance: not the first thing on everyone's mind
During conversations, it became clear that insurance is often brought into the process quite late in many countries. “Whereas we can already offer support during or even before the planning phase.” Brent explains. “We really immerse ourselves in our clients' projects and challenges. It's the only way we can ensure that all risks are identified and covered. Our industry is niche. If you make a mistake in your advice or claims handling, your reputation can disolve instantly. That’s why we must get it right. And fortunately, we do.”
International risks vary greatly
One striking insight from the fair is how significantly risks can differ from country to country. “In Germany, unfortunately, incidents involving vehicles driving into crowds at outdoor events occur more frequently than elsewhere. As a result, barriers are now mandatory, and at the fair we saw at least five suppliers. It shows how crucial it is for us to understand local regulations and needs in each country, so we can genuinely respond to what organisers require.”
A strong international network
Alongside the many conversations, there was plenty of inspiration through excellent panels and presentations, including a contribution from No Risk’s own Maarten, who took part in a panel discussing extreme weather and its impact on events.
Brent concludes: “We offer an international product that fits the needs of organisers perfectly. With our portal, accessibility, local brokers and our network of claims experts, we can offer fast and personal support anywhere. Future of Festivals confirms that our international direction is the right one.”
