Clear answers to the questions we are most frequently asked about wedding insurance.
If your wedding has to be postponed or cancelled, our wedding insurance will ensure that you are reimbursed for the following costs:
- Wedding clothes you hire for yourself and/or for the bridesmaids and pageboys
- Hire of transport on the wedding day
- Venue hire
- Catering
- Photographer and videographer
- Band, DJ and other artists
The following are insured on the wedding day itself:
- Damage to clothing of the bride and groom and the bridesmaids and pageboys
- Loss or theft of gifts
- The cost of purchased wedding clothes will be reimbursed if the bride or groom dies before the wedding
- If you, your partner, a family member or a best man is seriously ill and they already knew this when you took out the insurance, you are not insured if the wedding has to be postponed or cancelled because of that person's illness.
- You will not be reimbursed if your wedding has to be postponed or cancelled because of an epidemic or pandemic.
Wedding insurance is for anyone getting married, officially registering as partners or celebrating a wedding anniversary in a big way. Wedding planners can also take out the insurance for their clients.
To take out wedding insurance, you must be a resident of the Netherlands.
Yes, the cover applies to persons up to 70 years old. So if a bride or groom, a best man, or a first or second-degree relative is 70 years or older, and the wedding has to be postponed because that person falls ill or dies, there is no cover.
Yes, you can. You can add 'bad weather cover' to the insurance. If the wedding then has to be interrupted or relocated due to extreme weather, you will be reimbursed for the costs incurred.
Is your wedding taking place outdoors? Then the insurance applies if a code orange or red is in place. For weddings taking place indoors, there must be a code red in place.
If you are getting married in Europe, you can take out our wedding insurance. However, to take out the insurance, you have to live in the Netherlands yourself.
The insurance cannot be taken out for weddings outside Europe.
